Cualin Quality redesigns its Divino Imperial, Divino Supreme and Divino brands

"Cherry tomatoes on the vine have great potential to continue gaining market share"

After implementing improvements in their cultivation and management techniques that will allow them to improve both the quality and quantity of the production, Cualin Quality is starting the 2024/25 season with very good prospects and a new image for its Divino line.

"After almost a year of hard work and after updating our corporate identity, we have recently completed the redesign of our three main brands: Divino Imperial, Divino Supreme and Divino, for all formats in which they are marketed."

"With the aim of improving the customer experience when buying our tomatoes, we will soon be launching two new packaging concepts which we have named internally: Divino ReSealFlow and Divino SecureFresh."

"On the one hand, the Divino ReSealFlow concept is designed for the flowpack line of our Divino Imperial brand. This packaging facilitates access to the product while preserving its freshness for a longer period of time. On the other hand, the Divino SecureFresh concept significantly improves the existing Divino Imperial cardboard packaging, ensuring the product's protection from unauthorized handling and prolonging its shelf life and freshness. Furthermore, this packaging is made entirely from cardboard and cellulose paper, making it 100% recyclable and sustainable."

The distinguishing element: high-tech agriculture
Cualin Quality's high-tech greenhouses in Antas, Almeria, are equipped with advanced climate control systems that regulate temperature, humidity and light, creating optimal conditions for crop growth all year round.

"We use hydroponic growing techniques, which allow us to use water and nutrients efficiently, thereby improving the quality of the fruit. We have also implemented rainwater collecting and irrigation water drainage systems, which help optimize every drop of water used."

"We have also an integrated energy generation system, with solar panels able to produce 750MW annually, and we have a cogeneration plant, the only one of its kind in Spain, which generates 8000 KW/hour of power. This infrastructure is allowing us to achieve energy self-sufficiency, reduce our carbon footprint and improve our energy efficiency. Also, the CO₂ generated is used to boost the photosynthesis, which helps improve the organoleptic characteristics of the tomatoes."

"In addition to our state-of-the-art facilities, there are two key elements that set us apart. The first is our exceptional team with 25 years of experience in the sector. This team brings not only invaluable knowledge and skills, but also a passion and dedication that is reflected in every aspect of our work."

"The second differentiating element is the innovative use of natural light. We make the most of the sunshine in Almeria to improve our energy efficiency and sustainability, which gives us an edge over high-tech greenhouses in northern Europe."

"Lastly, we have tomatoes selected for their superior flavor and resistance to the rugose virus. In this regard, we have always been one step ahead, as our priority is to meet market demands and to offer the highest quality products."

Positive prospects for the 2024/25 season
"Our sales forecasts for next year are very optimistic. Our tomatoes, especially our cherry tomatoes on the vine, are highly appreciated for their shelf life, which allows us to stand out and meet the needs of customers in distant markets. This is key to our competitiveness.

"Germany has traditionally been our main market, and we continue to strengthen our presence there; however, we are actively seeking new expansion opportunities in several international markets, and are implementing various growth and expansion strategies that we expect will result in a significant increase in our sales. We also continue to innovate and improve our processes to better meet the needs of our customers and remain competitive."

"Moreover, we continue to work to boost our presence in the domestic market. We are 'the hidden jewel of Almeria', existing for 25 years, and we want more people to discover and appreciate the superior quality of our products," says David.

"We believe that cherry tomatoes on the vine have great potential to continue gaining market share, compared to other types of tomatoes and their direct competitor, the loose cherry tomato. There is a growing demand for tomatoes with exceptional flavor, and the cherry tomatoes on the vine more than meet these expectations, pleasantly surprising those who are looking for more than just a tomato. This flavor and the enhancement of all its characteristics are even more achievable in high-tech facilities like ours."

"Besides, their presentation on the vine gives them an aesthetic value that consumers appreciate, and they are also unquestionably versatile. The combination of sustainability and advanced technology improves the quality of the production and allows us to meet the demands of an increasingly informed and demanding market. We firmly believe that these factors will contribute to the continued growth of the cherry tomato on the vine market and its increasing production in high-tech infrastructures."
