Uzbek cherry exports increase by 33%

Uzbek cherries are making a mark in international markets, according to the Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan.

From January to August 2024, Uzbekistan exported 32,200 tons of cherries, earning $70.4 million. However, the volume of exports fell by 28% compared to the same time last year.

Despite the drop in volume, revenue from cherry sales increased by 33%, with an additional $17.5 million in export value.

During the first eight months of this year, Uzbekistan sent cherries to 16 different countries. Shipments to Russia, China, South Korea, and the UAE rose significantly, while exports to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan decreased by half.

Here's a list of the top countries that received Uzbek cherries from January to August 2024:

Russia — 25,400 tons

Kazakhstan — 3,500 tons

Kyrgyzstan — 2,700 tons

Belarus — 193 tons

UAE — 118 tons

Smaller amounts were also sent to China, South Korea, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia.
