ABS data released today shows that Tasmania's international exports were estimated to be worth $4.5 billion in the 12 months to August 2024, a figure that has grown a massive 60 per cent in 10 years.
The latest figures come as the Tasmanian Liberal Government committed more than $5.6 million to trade-boosting initiatives in the 2024-25 State Budget, including funding for the wine sector and fruit growers to expand their international markets.
Treasurer, Michael Ferguson, said as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we're opening up more opportunities to Tasmanian businesses from across as many sectors as possible to support our economy and create jobs.
"By investing in growing our export market we will ensure we can continue to promote a business-friendly environment," the Treasurer said.
