Improved pricing transparency in Brisbane Markets with new app launch

The Brisbane Markets is set to enhance pricing transparency with the launch of a new Price Report service. This app, designed for growers and the fresh produce industry in Queensland, aims to provide clear insights into pricing and trade levels at the central market. Developed and funded by Brismark, the service will offer a verifiable Market Price Report based on actual transactions at the Brisbane Markets.

Andrew Young, CEO of Brismark and Brisbane Markets Limited, highlighted the service as a response to industry and governmental calls for greater transparency in wholesale pricing of fresh produce. Unlike existing reports, which rely on discussions and observations, this app will utilize direct sales data for its reports. It addresses criticisms of the Market wholesaling sector by providing fact-based verifiable market price information.

The Price Report draws on data from Brismark's Credit Service, excluding transactions by large retail chains. It aims to centralize access to wholesale produce prices, offering a range of subscription options for daily price insights. Subscribers can access up to six months of pricing data for various produce lines, with customizable plans available.

Andrew Young expressed confidence in the app's utility for growers, buyers, and others in the fresh produce supply chain, citing its potential to improve market price transparency.
