In Shawan City, Xinjiang, the harvest season for over 50,000 mu of peppers has commenced, with the peppers now undergoing natural drying in Anjihai Town. Anjihai Town, renowned for its forty-year history in pepper cultivation, grows a variety of peppers including string, flat, bell, and lantern types, totaling more than 20 varieties. The peppers from this region are well-received in the market for their quality and taste, highlighting Xinjiang's distinctive agricultural industries.
The pepper industry in Anjihai has seen significant development towards large-scale cultivation and industrialization. At the Xinjiang Guanghaiji Agricultural Technology Development Co., Ltd., the processing of fresh peppers involves several steps such as cleaning, seed removal, slicing, pickling, and fermentation before being packaged for the market. According to Wang Peng, the factory director, the company operates three production lines at full capacity, processing 500 tons of peppers daily into 18 different pepper products, supported by a robust power supply.
To accommodate the increased power demand during the harvest season, the State Grid Kuitun Power Supply Company has ensured a stable and reliable power supply for both drying cooperatives and processing plants. This includes conducting inspections and maintenance on power lines and equipment, and providing on-site services to address the power needs of the pepper industry efficiently. The efforts aim to support the pepper harvesting and processing activities by ensuring a swift response to electricity consumption demands and resolving any potential issues promptly.
