Cooperatives lead Ukraine’s agricultural resilience amid war

In early October, Kyiv hosted the National Cooperative Shift "Power of Cooperation," a key event for Ukraine's cooperative movement. Experts, cooperative leaders, and international partners gathered to discuss the role of cooperatives during wartime and their contribution to rebuilding the country.

Sofiya Burtak, chairwoman of the Civic Union "Business Network of Rural Women," emphasized that cooperatives play a crucial role in supporting small producers, especially in agriculture. By joining forces, farmers can standardize products, certify them, and enter international markets. A notable example of success is the "Faina Polyana" cooperative, which began exporting frozen raspberries to the Czech Republic and Poland in 2022.

During the war, cooperatives have become vital for rural communities, providing access to international support and markets, and helping agricultural producers survive in challenging times.

The event also attracted government representatives, who discussed support programs for farmers, veterans, and rural women, making cooperation a vital part of Ukraine's economic recovery.
