UK: Smaller baskets but more visits result in steady food retail growth
Total Till sales picked up at UK supermarkets (+4.7%) in the last four weeks ending 5 October 2024, up from +4.0% in the previous month, according to new data released by NIQ. UK: 'Shop like our nan!' Call for supermarket ban on plastic packaging for fresh goods

Effective November 2, Midwest retailer Hy-Vee will be the new owner of Webster's Marketplace in Ripon, Wisconsin. German discount grocer Aldi continues its rapid U.S. expansion on Thursday, October 17, with plans to open four new stores, one of which is sandwiched between a Target and a Walmart Supercenter. The newly built Aldi in Lecanto, Florida, near the intersection of W. Norvell Bryant Hwy and N. Lecanto Hwy is in the same parking lot as the newly built Target. The Walmart Supercenter is on the south side of W. Norvell Bryant Hwy. The Lecanto Aldi is the discount grocer's first store in the city and opens the same day as stores in San Diego, California, at 9340 Mira Mesa Blvd.; Florissant, Missouri, at 240 Howdershell Rd.; and Monroe, Connecticut, at 205 Monroe Turnpike.
