Afghanistan has exported 442 tons of melons and watermelons in the past six months, mainly from Kandahar, to markets in India and Pakistan, according to the Taliban-run Ministry of Agriculture.
Despite this achievement, Afghan traders face significant challenges, including insufficient cold storage, rising customs tariffs, visa issues, and complications caused by international sanctions. These sanctions have made it difficult to transfer funds through banks, further hindering the ability of Afghan exporters to maintain and grow their businesses.
