Spain: Second class long/black eggplant is back in the market

The Crisis Committee of the Andalusian Interprofessional Organization for Fruit and Vegetables, Hortyfruta, has decided to deactivate the Extension of the Standard for long/black eggplant, considering the favorable development observed over the last few days, and the reversal of the market situation that led to the ban of the sale of second class long/black eggplant, in force since October 18.

Therefore, after midnight on October 30, all growers and traders in Andalusia are again able to sell second class eggplant for fresh consumption.

Hortyfruta highlighted the exemplary behavior of growers and companies during the period that the Extension of the Standard has been activated, since all the inspections carried out have been satisfactorily resolved.

Hortyfruta's member organizations say that they will continue to regularly monitor the market developments for horticultural products of concern for this Interprofessional and to evaluate the measures to be applied at any given moment and for each product in particular.
