Sainsbury's reported: "Giving customers the gift of great value in the lead up to Christmas, Sainsbury's is the first retailer to add up to 200 products to Aldi Price Match in its Local stores. Offering market leading convenience prices on the most popular breakfast, lunch and dinner products, including milk, bread, butter, baked beans, chicken, tuna, pasta, rice and fresh herbs and vegetables".

Holland: Retail turnover up by almost 3% in September

Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reported that retail turnover was 2.6% higher in September 2024 than in September 2023. Turnover in shops selling food, beverages and tobacco was down by 1.8% in September, year on year. Sales volume was 5.4% lower. Turnover in supermarkets was down by 2.8%, while turnover in specialty shops was up by 5.8%.

Morrisons stands shoulder to shoulder with British farmers with series of commitments

Morrisons reported: "Morrisons has committed over £1.4bln yearly into British Farming as it continues to stand shoulder to shoulder with UK farmers. As British farming's single biggest direct customer, Morrisons is announcing that it will bring forward support planned for December, by offering a five per cent discount for farmers to use in its stores and online. The gesture of appreciation extends to all Morrisons livestock suppliers who provide lamb, beef and pork; egg farmers and fruit and veg growers who supply Morrisons directly; and dairy farmers with a Morrisons contract".

Spanish retailer Grupo DIA reported gross sales of €1.8bln in the third quarter of 2024 - an increase of 1.8% compared to the same period in 2023 - driven by a 4.3% increase in sales in Spain. The company's consolidated gross sales for the first nine months of 2024 reached €5.73bln.

Croatian antitrust agency approves Tommy's acquisition of Brodokomerc Nova

The Croatian Competition Agency (AZTN) has granted approval for Tommy, Croatia's sixth-largest grocery retail chain, to acquire local peer Brodokomerc Nova. US: Despite hurricanes, Publix sees sales increase
