Fruit supplies to Russia increased by 8.3%

As of November 1, 2024, the Federal State Information System "Argus-Fito" reports an increase in the importation of fruits and berries into Russia, compared to the previous year's figures.

The overall importation of fruits from abroad into Russia has surged by 8.3%.

The first ten months of 2023 saw the import volume standing at 4.6 million tons, which has grown to almost 5 million tons in the same period this year.

This year, the importation of citrus fruits has risen by 16.8%, moving from 1.1 million tons to 1.3 million tons compared to the same period last year.

The importation of pome fruits, including apples and pears, has also experienced growth of a 5.7% increase to 531400 tons, up from 502800 tons in the corresponding period of 2023.

Stone fruits such as peaches, plums, and cherries have seen a modest rise in imports by 1.9%, amounting to nearly, 721000 tons. In 2023, the import volume for these fruits was 707400 tons.

Moreover, there has been a surge in the import of berries and other fruits by 29.3%, from 336600 tons to 435300 tons.

Regarding bananas, the Rosselkhoznadzor reports that there has been no decline in the import figures. Annually, Russia imports about 1.4 million tons of bananas. In 2024, a total of 1.16 million tons of bananas have been imported, a figure that coincides with the import volume for the identical period in 2023.
