Zero VAT rate applied to essential fruits and vegetables as per new tax decree

The Tax Department has declared the application of a zero VAT rate to essential goods as outlined in the Council of Ministers Decree (KDP 349/2024). The decree specifies that the zero-rate category includes fresh or chilled vegetables such as potatoes, tomatoes, onions, shallots, garlic, leeks, cabbages, cauliflower, broccoli, lettuce, carrots, turnips, beetroot, cucumbers, and legumes like peas and beans. Additionally, the fruit category covered under this rate encompasses bananas, figs, citrus fruits (oranges, mandarins, clementines, grapefruits, lemons), grapes, melons, watermelons, apples, pears, apricots, peaches, cherries, nectarines, plums, strawberries, and kiwi fruit. The tax exemption is designated for specific commodity codes within the fruit and vegetable categories as detailed in the decree.
