Not denting or deforming

"Our mulchers are now even stronger than before"

For some weeks now, the Italian company Pellerano has used Hardox® steel for some of its mulcher components. A wear-resistant plate that can withstand high impact without deforming.

"All the assembled working parts, such as the top plate and side plates, are now made of Hardox 450 material, which makes it possible to cope with difficult conditions. This is a steel that allows extreme use on stone of any hardness and consistency. It does not dent or deform. When an object (stone, wood, iron, etc.) strikes the plate, the force is distributed and leaves no trace of permanent deformation. The reinforcements remain, thanks to the redundancy concept developed by Pellerano. The plate can bend and absorb any continuous impact," says Francesco Pellerano, owner of the Apulian company that has been producing chain shredders for over 25 years, in 42 models, with working widths ranging from 120 to 240 cm and with 6 different types of chain.

The manager points out that this structural change has not resulted in an increase in sales prices compared to previous versions. "We sell an average of two mulchers of this type per week. The customer base is extremely diverse, but the typical customer for the Pellerano Total Hardox 450 line is a large farm with very stony soils. Since the beginning of September, thanks to the very special characteristics of this material, we have supplied several Total Hardox models to Lazio, Sardinia, Abruzzo, Sicily, Calabria and Apulia. The thicknesses of the Hardox 450 plates used vary from 6 to 15 mm for the larger machine types.

In addition to being able to shred all types of weeds and vegetal waste (blackberry, acacia, cistus, reeds, broom, etc.), even in the presence of stones and solid rock, the Pellerano tools are now more robust thanks to new components.

"Aspects such as low fuel consumption and easy maintenance have won us the loyalty of many farmers throughout Italy. There are also other advantages that have made and continue to make our machines popular, like their resistance to flooding at high forward speeds."
