The UAE Consul General Bakhit Atiq Al-Rumaiti, during the Future Summit in Karachi, underscored the potential of Pakistan's mango industry for value addition. Al-Rumaiti pointed out the facilitation provided to UAE investors upon arrival, contrasting with the challenges, including visa issues and additional expenses, faced by Pakistani investors. He stressed the importance of easing the process for investors.
Al-Rumaiti mentioned the high demand for Pakistani mangoes in Dubai, where they are sold for $10 but can fetch up to $120 after repackaging, highlighting the opportunity for value addition within Pakistan's agricultural sector. This requires a collective effort from both the government and stakeholders. The consul general also emphasized food security as a regional priority, noting the frequent requests for Pakistani mangoes by the Pakistani community in Dubai as gifts for their families. He concluded by stating that the UAE's focus is on economic growth, and Pakistani investors seeking opportunities in the UAE would be directed to the relevant ministry for assistance.
