Weekly banana price report - week 45

Banana prices surge by over 5% in Belize, show stability in Colombia

Recent data on banana prices reveals notable weekly fluctuations across key global markets. Belize, a part of the ACP group, experienced an average price of £0.90 per kilogram, reflecting a 5.15% increase from the previous week. This jump could be attributed to regional supply constraints or increased demand in European markets.

Meanwhile, Colombia, classified under Dollar economies, maintained a stable weekly average price of £0.84 per kilogram, showing no change from the prior week. This stability suggests a balanced supply-demand dynamic, likely supported by consistent exports to North American and European destinations.

Costa Rica, another Dollar economy, recorded a slight increase of 1.15%, with the price rising to £0.96 per kilogram. This marginal growth highlights the resilience of Costa Rican exports amidst global economic uncertainties. These trends underscore the dynamic nature of the banana trade, influenced by regional factors and international market demands.
