In 2024, Azerbaijan saw a small rise in its vegetable production, according to information from the Ministry of Agriculture. From January to October, farmers produced 1,785,600 tons of vegetables, an increase of 1.8% compared to the same period last year.
This increase in production has also led to more vegetables being exported. In the first ten months of 2024, Azerbaijan sold $175.2 million worth of vegetables to other countries. This is a slight increase of 1.2% compared to the exports from January to October in 2023.
Not all vegetable exports did well, though. The country exported 48,200 tons of potatoes, bringing in $20.4 million. This is a big drop, 34% less in value, compared to the same months in 2023.
On the other hand, tomato exports have done quite well. Between January and October 2024, Azerbaijan exported 118,922 tons of tomatoes, making $141.965 million. There is an increase of 12.6% in money and 5% in the number of tomatoes exported compared to last year when Azerbaijan sold 113,319 tons of tomatoes and made $12.68 million.
