With the arrival of the peak export season ahead of Christmas, shipping capacity has been increasingly constrained since November, driving up freight costs. During the South American mango season, Beijing Sino-agricultural Biosciences Co., Ltd., a supplier of temperature data loggers for the fruit and vegetable cold chain, showcased its products at the Fruit Attraction exhibition held in Madrid, Spain, this October. The company highlighted its flagship Metech Disposable USB Temperature Data Logger during the expo.
According to Siya, a representative of the company, the peak export season has caused a surge in overseas importers' demand for Christmas inventory. This has led to significant increases in shipping costs, especially on Asian and European routes. Freight costs for Southeast Asian routes are expected to rise by 90%–100%, while European routes may see increases of around 30%. In addition, unpredictable container shipping times and port delays have posed significant challenges for fruit and vegetable traders. As a result, the market demand for temperature data loggers in the cold chain sector remains robust.
The Metech disposable data logger has become a particularly popular product for Beijing Sino-agricultural Biosciences. "Our 4G temperature and humidity data logger series is not yet fully developed, and internet coverage in some areas remains insufficient. Moreover, the instability in the chip industry has driven up manufacturing costs. As a result, we have temporarily halted sales of 4G products and are focusing on promoting our basic Metech data logger," Siya explained.
She added, "The Metech data logger uses TI digital temperature sensors, offering high accuracy and consistency. The device measures temperatures ranging from -30°C to +70°C, with an accuracy of ±0.5°C (±0.9°F) and a resolution of 0.01°C (0.018°F). It can store up to 14,400 temperature records and has a maximum recording duration of 120 days." Siya emphasized the convenience of the Metech disposable data logger: "Its USB interface makes it particularly useful in environments without internet access. Users simply plug the device into a computer, and a PDF temperature report is automatically generated—no additional software or reader required. Additionally, because it does not rely on internet connectivity, the Metech USB data logger is 6 to 10 times cheaper than 4G-based alternatives, making it a more cost-effective choice for customers in the fruit and vegetable cold chain industry."
Looking ahead to the future of the temperature and humidity data logger market, Siya commented, "The current tight shipping capacity is likely to persist, and we anticipate continued strong demand for temperature and humidity data loggers in the near term."
