In Superfresh Growers' November 2024 Orchard Update with horticulturist Dave Gleason, he reports that the Washington growing region has had almost no rain days. However, it has had some significant winds–all of which though have left minimal damage to its orchards.
Following a good harvest season, the company is getting close to the end of it. "At this point in the harvest, we're just excited to be done," said Gleason. "Many times we're making economic decisions as we're looking at a block. As we're walking through making plans for the harvest, we look at the market, and evaluate what are the outlets for this fruit."
Gleason says looking ahead, the thinking is moving into the winterization of the orchard and more. "Things are always busy on the farm," he says.
