Peru expands agricultural exports to China, strengthens Asia-Pacific trade ties

Peru has successfully exported a variety of products including pecans, chestnuts, frozen avocados, mangoes, and frozen blueberries to China. In a recent interview with CCTV-13, President Dina Boluarte highlighted the longstanding diplomatic relations between Peru and China, spanning over five decades. She emphasized China's development model, citing Shenzhen's transformation from a fishing port to a technologically advanced cosmopolitan city as an inspiration for Peru.

During the APEC Economic Leaders Week in Lima, Peru took important steps to enhance agricultural exports to China, including pork and beef. MIDAGRI's head, Ángel Manero, mentioned pending approval for pomegranate exports and plans for pitahaya, cherry, and blueberry seedlings in 2025. The inauguration of the Chancay port is expected to facilitate chicken meat exports to China, leveraging the Free Trade Agreement and reduced freight costs.

President Boluarte also noted the APEC forum's role in strengthening Peru's position in the Asia-Pacific region, enhancing its reputation as a dependable trading partner, and fostering opportunities for trade, investment, and international cooperation.
