Uvasdoce Fresh:

"Grape imports into Spain have been more burdened than expected and we are starting to see shortages"

The start of grape imports into Spain this November has been significantly challenging.

"The first shipments are coming from Peru and Brazil but, unfortunately, they have faced various difficulties that have delayed their arrival," says the Spanish company Uvasdoce Fresh, based in the municipality of Monforte del Cid, in the province of Alicante. "These problems are not only having an impact on the quantity of fruit available, but also causing difficulties with sea freight," they say.

"Delays in the harvest, together with complications in international transport, have caused a drop in the volume of grapes originally expected for this month. This is translating into a limited supply in supermarkets, where consumers are already beginning to notice the shortages," they say.

"Importers are also dealing with uncertainty in delivery times, which makes stock planning difficult and can negatively affect sales during a critical period for the sector."

"The combination of these factors is making the start of grape imports into Spain more difficult than expected; however, volumes and prices are expected to stabilize in the coming weeks, just in time for the expected end-of-year campaign," says Uvasdoce Fresh.

The company is already getting ready for the New Year's Eve campaign, a key period for grape consumption in Spain because of its traditions.

"For Uvasdoce, the New Year's Eve season is a magical time that we look forward to year after year. This time of year symbolizes new beginnings and the hope for a prosperous future, and it fills us with enthusiasm to know that, with our 12 Lucky Grapes, we bring joy and good fortune to more than 600,000 people across Spain. This year, we are also pleased to introduce three new products that will further enrich this tradition."
