Organicology 2025 set for March 2025

Organically Grown Company (OGC) announced the return of the 7th biannual Organicology, a gathering of the organic food trade sector March 12-14, 2025 at Revolution Hall in Portland, Oregon.

"Organicology is more than a conference—it's an idea lab designed to revolutionize food, agriculture, and economic systems for the better," said Brenna Davis, CEO of Organically Grown Company. "With the theme 'Organic is the Answer,' this one-of-a-kind event brings together contributors, advocates, and change-makers from across the organic trade to share insights, present research, celebrate innovation, and tackle challenges collectively."

The program, now live on the Organicology website, features pre-conference tours, six keynote speakers, 15 workshops and sessions, and networking opportunities for attendees.

Keynote highlights:

  • Leah Penniman: Co-director of Soul Fire Farm and author of Farming While Black, Penniman is a farmer and food justice activist working to create an anti-racist food system.
  • Valerie Segrest: Native nutrition educator and co-founder of Tahoma Peak Solutions, Segrest works to inspire food sovereignty through culturally rooted nutrition education.
  • James Cassidy: OSU Soil Science instructor and advisor to the Organic Growers Club, Cassidy brings a dynamic perspective on sustainable farming.
  • Jenny Tucker: Deputy administrator of the National Organic Program at the USDA, Tucker will share insights on the future of organic standards and policy.
  • Brenna Davis: CEO of Organically Grown Company, Davis is a sustainability expert and public speaker passionate about advancing the organic movement.

Workshop spotlights:

  • Reducing Plastic Along the Supply Chain: Explore strategies and success stories for reducing plastic use, recycling innovations, and creative reuse ideas within the food system.
  • The Elephant Is Taking Up Too Much Room: The Influence of Consolidation of Producers, Distributors, and Stores: Dive into the impacts of consolidation across the food supply chain and how it undermines support for local organic farm-based businesses, and what the state of Vermont is doing about it.
  • Advances in Organic Crop and Seed Development in the Northwest: Learn about innovative crop breeding programs, new seed varieties, and opportunities for collaboration in participatory plant breeding.
