Three-quarters of Kyrgyzstan's apricot exports go to Russia

Over the first ten months of 2024, Kyrgyzstan exported approximately 23,000 tons of apricots, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

The main export destinations for Kyrgyz apricots were:

  • Russia: 17,050 tons
  • Kazakhstan: 5,476 tons
  • Belarus: 105 tons

There are 12,700 hectares of fruit-bearing apricot orchards across the country, with the majority located in the Batken and Issyk-Kul regions.

Kyrgyz apricots stand out for their taste and aroma, which are attributed to the unique climate, terrain, and soil where they are grown. They have a sweeter and richer flavour, larger size, and juicier flesh. Additionally, they are cultivated organically without chemical fertilizers or pesticides.

Popular varieties grown in the Issyk-Kul region include Shalakh (Royal), Sultan, and Limonka. In the Batken region, common varieties are Pritsia, Magador, and Mikado.
