Both the Turkish citrus and pomegranate season have been very positive this year, says Akin Soyleyen, marketing manager for Turkish fresh produce exporter Aksun: "As a citrus exporter based in Turkey, we're proud to share the success of our citrus program this season and the great quality of our pomegranates. Turkish citrus continues to be a trusted choice in international markets. This year, we've also seen an outstanding pomegranate harvest, with vibrant color, excellent size, and a flavor profile that truly stands out."
Aksun has invested in improving the packaging and logistical side of the operation even further, Soyleyen explains. "Our operations are deeply rooted in local resources, from the orchards to the packhouse. This year, we've further enhanced our focus on premium packaging and optimized logistics to meet the evolving needs of our global partners. By prioritizing consistency and innovation, we're strengthening our relationships with buyers who value the qualities of Turkish produce."
As a result of the logistical challenges, Aksun has opted to focus on other markets than the Asian one, Soyleyen states: "With the stronger Turkish lira, we have chosen to take a steady and strategic approach to our export program. We're focusing on targeted investments to enhance efficiency and maintain a constant export strategy, ensuring stability in our operations. In light of current global challenges, such as the Suez Canal blockage, we have adapted, by minimizing loads to Far East Asia, considering the long transit times and potential delays this route brings. This adjustment allows us to concentrate on markets where we can deliver our produce with maximum freshness and reliability."
Overall, it's been a good year for Aksun and they look forward to move forward in 2025. "This season's achievements underscore the importance of resilience and strategic thinking in a competitive global landscape. We are excited to share the results of our efforts and look forward to building on this momentum in the seasons to come," Soyleyen concludes.
