Between January and November 2024, Kyrgyzstan imported 33,050.9 tons of bananas worth $24.2 million, according to data from the National Statistical Committee. This marks a notable increase compared to the same period in 2023 when imports totaled 25,725.4 tons at a value of $16.8 million.
Specifically, imports from Ecuador reached 29,099.6 tons valued at $20.87 million, a 30% increase compared to 2023, when 22,271.9 tons worth $13.33 million were imported.
Kyrgyzstan purchases bananas from Ecuador at an average price of $717 per ton.
Other key suppliers of bananas to Kyrgyzstan in 2024 included:
- China: 2,168.9 tons worth $1.39 million (no imports from China were recorded in 2023).
- Russia: 1,222.7 tons worth $1.39 million (a decrease from 2,779.7 tons in 2023).
- Kazakhstan: 421.8 tons.
