This week, New Zealand cherry grower 45 South Management Limited, with the support of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, held a promotional event in Shanghai. At the event, 45 South gratefully acknowledged the partnerships with some of their retail customers in that region whose support extends for more than 10 years. Attending this event was Consulate General, Ardi Barnard and NZTE Trade Commissioner, Steve Jones also attended the event.
"This 45 South event also coincides with the arrival of our late seasonal variety Sentennial, which is exclusive to 45 South in New Zealand. This variety is well known for its excellent quality and keeping ability. Sentennial has become very popular in recent years. The weather and resulting fruit quality was very, very good this season," said Richard Cameron, Sales and Marketing Manager at 45 South.
45 South grows the Sentennial variety on 50 hectares producing 500+ tonnes of export cherries. Just over 200 tonnes go to the Chinese market, with the remaining volumes going to Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, The Philippines, and North America.
