Fruit and vegetable prices rise in Bulgaria

Last week, fruit and vegetable prices increased in Bulgarian markets, according to the Bulgarian Association of Fruits and Vegetables.

Among fruits, oranges saw the highest price jump, rising by 8.1% to 2.23 BGN per kg (€1.14/kg).

Other fruits that became more expensive include:

  • Lemons rose by 5.8% to 2.39 BGN/kg (€1.22/kg);
  • Apples went up by 4.3% to 1.69 BGN/kg (€0.86/kg);
  • Grapefruits increased by 3% to 2.58 BGN/kg (€1.32/kg);
  • Mandarins rose by 2.7% to 2.62 BGN/kg (€1.34/kg);
  • Bananas slightly increased by 1.1% to 2.75 BGN/kg (€1.41/kg).

Among vegetables, cabbage saw the highest increase, rising by 9.1% to 1.46 BGN/kg (€0.75/kg). Cucumbers also became more expensive by 6.9%, reaching 3.51 BGN/kg (€1.79/kg), and tomatoes increased by 4.7% to 3.01 BGN/kg (€1.54/kg).

The only product that got cheaper was lettuce, dropping by 3.1% to 1.08 BGN per piece (€0.55 per piece).
