Low prices also a strong point

Finding water underground is now easier with a new feasibility analysis

With the summer season - and, therefore, a greater need for water for crops - approaching. innovation is not standing still. Demand for artesian wells is increasing also due to the difficulties in supplying them by consortia, the drought, and the consequences it generates in the various territories.

Vincenzo Orso, a drone pilot from Hydro Hunter Italia, a company that deals with underground water research using innovative remotely piloted aircraft systems, launched a new preventive analysis service, ideal for assessing the possibility of finding water in a portion of the subsoil, now enhanced and carried out with a technique that uses satellite images and synthetic aperture radar.

"Our accuracy rate has increased a lot with this new technology, allowing us to reduce the search and scanning space and, therefore, the cost for customers. Our geologists detect large anomalies, i.e. the presence of groundwater, rivers, and underground lakes, and especially whether flowing or stagnant water. Rather than going into the fields and scanning hundreds of meters of ground with drones, we go directly to the point where the analysis, which is more powerful than the standard one, signals potential situations where water resources can be found."

Subsurface scanning in Grosseto

The cost of the preventive analysis is 100 euros. Orso goes on to say that this examination has already brought excellent results in Morocco, as well as in Italy, especially in Basilicata, Sicily, and Tuscany.

"Artesian wells are an effective solution to ensure the irrigation of crops in areas served by inefficient water networks. But how do we know if there is water under the ground concerned? Drilling companies are the last ones that need to be approached. If you do not want to spend too much money, they will first recommend this investigation, and then assess whether or not to scan the ground with drones. If the scan also provides encouraging and acceptable data, we will advise the client to proceed and contact a drilling company."
