The Egyptian table grape export industry is increasingly turning to paper packaging, in order to meet customer expectations in terms of sustainability as well as enhanced fruit protection. For their part, packaging manufacturers are preparing for the next season with "more modern packaging, meeting the standards of destination markets alongside the economic impact on exporters", according to Mohamed Ali, co-founder of FreshDeal.
Ali says, "We have been working closely with Egypt's leading table grape exporters to upgrade our packaging offer for the forthcoming season. Exporters specifically requested environmentally friendly, plastic-free alternatives that comply with global export regulations and meet sustainability concerns in destination markets. Equally important is that the packaging should enhance protection, preserve freshness, prevent moisture build-up, and minimize damage during transport."
"Industry players also need tailored branding and market differentiation, using high-quality printing and customization to help Egyptian grapes stand out on the shelves. Finally, the cost factor is always present, imposing a balance between price and quality, to ensure the viability of large-scale exports," he adds.
According to the manufacturer, the ideal packaging for table grape exporters will be made of paper, with reinforced structures, breathable designs, and customizable branding options, responding directly to the needs of exporters and customers while helping to drive the long-term growth of Egyptian grape exports.
Ali shares his company's offer: "We are delighted to announce that FreshDeal is gearing up for the forthcoming export season with an innovative initiative. We will produce 20 million paper bags specially designed for Egyptian table grape exporters. Our new product complies with international environmental and food safety regulations. By replacing traditional plastic packaging with FSC®-certified paper bags and environmentally-friendly printing inks, FreshDeal is helping Egyptian grape exporters meet the standards of the global markets, especially in Europe and Asia, where environmental policies are becoming increasingly stringent."
