Peru exported 3,000 tons of artichokes in February

Peruvian artichoke exports in February of this year decreased over the same month of the previous year. In February 2025, Peru exported 3,002 tonnes of artichoke worth $ 7.62 million. This is 0.2% less volume and 15.4% less value than in February 2024, a drop attributed to the decrease in export prices. The average price stood at $2.54 per kilogram, i.e. 15.2% less than in the previous year.

The predominant format was processed artichokes, especially canned artichokes, indicating a preference for value-added products in international markets. The product was mainly shipped through two terminals: DP World, which handled 67.5% of shipments, and APM Terminals, with 30.9%. The remaining 1.6% was exported via the Port of Paita's TPE Terminal.

Peru exported its artichoke to 16 destinations. The United States, Spain, and France were the main destinations. The United States was the main destination with a 63.6% share of the total, importing 1,979 tons for $4.85 million, at an average price of $2.45 per kilogram. Spain purchased 636 tons for $1.78 million at an average price of $2.81 per kilogram. France bought 51 tons for $169,951, at an average of $3.27 per kilogram.
