Dean Gall elected IFPA ANZ Chairman

Executive members of the Fresh Produce and Floral Trade Association, International Fresh Produce Association ANZ (formerly PMA ANZ), have unanimously elected Dean Gall, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Premier Fresh Australia as Chairman.

Mr. Gall, who replaces Richard Byllaardt with immediate effect, has also been appointed as the region's representative on the global board, a position to be formalised later this year. He will hold both roles for three years.

Melbourne-based Mr Gall has more than 20 years of industry experience through various executive roles at Premier Fresh Australia. Premier Fresh Australia is one of Australia's leading fresh produce supply chain companies which grows, markets, and distributes fruit and vegetables domestically and internationally. Mr Gall has been a director of the IFPA ANZ board since May 2022 and most recently served as Treasurer.

"I've been privileged to have had a front-row seat across the entire produce supply chain for a long time and passion for the industry is a significant driver for me. Developing and deepening relationships in an industry where success depends on moving perishable products quickly and safely, is critical. I'm looking forward to providing strategic leadership, ensuring strong governance, and supporting the IFPA ANZ team in driving industry and member impact," Mr Gall said.

"Our industry faces mounting pressures including rising costs, labour shortages, regulatory shifts, and the need to boost fresh produce consumption," Mr Gall said.

"IFPA ANZ plays a vital role in ensuring a strong, united voice that drives solutions and keeps fresh produce and floral on the national agenda in Australia and New Zealand."

Advocacy remains central to IFPA ANZ's 2023-2026 strategy, focusing on sustainability, supply chain efficiencies, and policy reform.

Mr. Gall emphasised that IFPA ANZ would continue to work alongside key industry bodies to amplify member voices, ensuring policies reflected industry realities and supported long-term growth.

"Our greatest asset is our members who are experts across the entire supply chain. By amplifying their voices and insights, we can help shape policies and solutions that foster growth, resilience, and a strong future for fresh produce and floral industries," Mr Gall said.

He also highlighted the importance of IFPA's global connections, enabling members to stay ahead of emerging trends and innovations.

"The fresh produce and floral industries thrive on collaboration. IFPA membership provides businesses with access to insights, advocacy, and the networks they need to remain competitive and drive meaningful change."

Acknowledging outgoing Chairman Richard Byllaardt, Mr Gall thanked him for his leadership and dedication.

"Richard is a passionate advocate for our industry, and we sincerely appreciate his contributions both locally and globally," he said.

IFPA ANZ members will have the opportunity to meet Mr Gall at the Diamond-Platinum Executive Dinner at Pier One Sydney Harbour, Sydney on April 30. The event will celebrate industry leadership, innovation, and collaboration featuring special guest speaker, Foxtel Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Patrick Delany who will share insights on disruption and transformation.
