The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL), in Afghanistan, reports an increase in persimmon production across Nangarhar province this year. The current harvest has yielded 2,200 tons.
Persimmons are cultivated in Kamah, Kuzkunar, Betikut, Behsud, and other districts. MAIL has implemented persimmon projects and established orchards in these areas over recent years. Research farms under Nangarhar's agriculture department host 24 varieties of persimmons. This fruit is favored in Afghanistan, particularly in eastern provinces such as Kunar and Laghman.
The climate in Nangarhar is conducive to persimmon cultivation, alongside other crops like dates, according to MAIL.
