Exotic fruits, from oranges and mandarins to mangoes and avocados, remain costly in Serbian markets and stores.
According to Belgrade's press, bananas cost around 250 dinars ($2.30) per kilogram at markets, while in stores, they range from 140 to 190 dinars ($1.29–$1.75). Market vendors claim their prices are higher because their products are always fresh and haven't been stored in refrigerators.
Lemons cost about 300 dinars ($2.76) at markets and 140–170 dinars ($1.29–$1.57) in stores. Avocados and mangoes are priced at 170 dinars ($1.56) in stores and 300 dinars ($2.76) in markets.
Grapefruits sell for 180 dinars ($1.66) in stores and 300 dinars ($2.76) at markets. Mandarins are 300 dinars ($2.76) at markets and up to 200 dinars ($1.84) in stores.
Red oranges are available in markets for up to 400 dinars ($3.68) per kilogram but are not found in stores.
Grapes, mostly imported from Peru, cost up to 1,000 dinars ($9.20) per kilogram at markets. A 400-gram box of blueberries sells for 800 dinars ($7.36).
Serbian strawberries are not yet in season, and imported ones are sold at markets for 200–300 dinars ($1.84–$2.76) per 250 grams.
