Korea to be partner country at Anuga 2025, October 4–8, Cologne

Tradition meets modern nutrition trends

Anuga, the world's largest trading and market platform for the global food and beverage industry, has named Korea as the official partner country for the 2025 event. The event partner is the Korean Food Industry Association (KFIA). With a steadily growing export strategy, Korea is a key player in the global food market. In recent years, the Korean food and beverage industry has developed into one of the most innovative and fastest-growing industries worldwide. As the sixth-largest exporter, the country is increasingly positioning itself as a global trendsetter for sustainable, health-conscious, and technologically advanced food products. The growing international demand for K-Food shows how much Korean food is gaining in importance worldwide.

"The partnership as the official partner country of ANUGA 2025 is a great opportunity to further strengthen the global status of K-Food. We will do our best to highlight the innovation and uniqueness of the Korean food industry in the country pavilion and support participating companies in achieving tangible success in the international market," emphasizes Lee Hyo Yul, Chairman of the Korea Food Industry Association.

"With Korea as the partner country of Anuga 2025, we are placing a special focus on a country that uniquely combines tradition and modernity. Korea is known for pioneering developments in the areas of food tech, sustainability, and plant-based alternatives. Global demand for Korean food is growing rapidly, and Korean companies are actively shaping the future of the industry," says Bastian Mingers, Executive Vice President, Food and Food Technology, Koelnmesse GmbH.

K-Food as a global trendsetter
Korean food represents a unique combination of tradition, health, and modern lifestyle. Fermented products such as kimchi or jangryu (including doenjang, gochujang, and soy sauce) not only have an intense flavor but also offer health benefits. Classics such as bibimbap or namul promote a balanced diet and fit perfectly with the global vegan and wellness trends.

At the same time, the K-Wave trend is driving global demand for K-Food. Instant noodles, Korean-style ramen, and dumplings are in high demand internationally, thanks to social media. Especially in the US, the market for convenience and home-meal replacement products is booming, as they are ideally suited to today's lifestyles.

Innovation and sustainability in the food industry
Korea combines culinary tradition with innovative concepts for a sustainable future. Plant-based alternatives such as tofu, soy milk noodles, or vegan tuna are setting new trends in the industry. Advanced manufacturing processes, upcycling, and climate-resistant foods such as Green Leaf Kimchi illustrate the commitment to resource-efficient food production. In addition, modern fermentation technologies, sustainable manufacturing processes, and Korea's innovative leadership in food tech underscore the country's pioneering role in the global food industry.

Export potential and economic significance
The Korean food and beverage industry is a key player in the global export market. With a total export of goods of 684 billion US dollars in 2022 and a forecast of 683.8 billion US dollars for 2024, the country ranks 6th among the world's largest export nations. Through its strategic focus on international markets and continuous innovation, Korea is increasingly establishing itself as an important player in world trade.
