Sander Moret, Hars &Hagebauer:

“We expect a much more stable African mango season than 2024”

Sander Moret, Hars & Hagebauer's 'travelling buyer', is currently in Korhogo in the north of Côte d'Ivoire. "Here we are monitoring the first mangoes that will be shipped for us. From week 17, we will start receiving mangoes from the Ivory Coast. With a backpack full of mosquito nets, malaria pills, and granola bars, we're touring our four suppliers in Côte d'Ivoire and one in Mali."

"The harvest looks good. We're starting a bit earlier this year, so we'll also finish earlier. In terms of volume, things are looking positive. There will be a regular and sufficient supply of mangoes, so no flood is expected. We're anticipating a much more stable situation than in 2024. But as everyone knows, they're still mangoes. The market can always throw in a surprise."

"For a fun Africa programme, it's never too late. My colleagues at the office are ready. I hope to be back on Dutch soil by the weekend."
