In August 2024, Van den Brink completed phase 4 of its new building. "As part of this expansion, we invested in 16 ULO cold stores, two work cells, and a spacious shipping area with 2,000 m² of production space for packing apples, pears, citrus, and other products," says Peter van den Brink.

"We have also implemented further automation in the apple and pear packing process. Rising labour costs have been a challenge for years, and through smart automation, we remain both flexible and cost-efficient for our customers."

Van den Brink is a logistics service provider specialising in the long-term storage, sorting, and packaging of mainly top fruit, and it also grows its own apples and pears. "With our recent expansion, we now offer additional storage capacity and advanced packaging options for a range of imported fresh produce. In addition to (imported) pears, we process citrus, grapes, stone fruit, and various other fruits and vegetables," Peter says.

Van den Brink also handles the logistics for fresh produce distributed weekly to 1,800 primary schools in the Netherlands. "Our customers deliver directly to retail, and our extensive certifications allow us to fully manage the packaging process. By strategically organising our logistics areas, we operate even more efficiently and have further optimised our processes."
