Ethiopia:

HortiFlora moves to annual event after successful 2025 edition

"Given the increasing international interest and significance of the event, HortiFlora will now have a transition from a biennial trade show to an annual one," says Dick Van Raamsdonk of HPP Worldwide, reflecting on the three-day trade show held in Addis Ababa from April 1-3. Next year, the show will take place from March 18 to 20.

With the support of the Ethiopian Horticulture Producers Exporters Association (EHPEA), the exhibition has seen impressive growth over the past two decades. Van Raamsdonk is satisfied with this year's edition, stating, "It was a highly successful event, featuring a record-breaking 140 exhibitors, stunning stands, and a consistent flow of visitors, including a strong international presence, particularly from the Middle East."

This year, in addition to flowers, fruits and vegetables were also showcased. "The inclusion of fruit and vegetable growers alongside the traditional floral exhibitors significantly expanded the event's scope."

The decision to make HortiFlora an annual event stems from the sector's growing importance and the need for more frequent opportunities for industry professionals to connect, exchange ideas, and conduct business, he says. "With Ethiopia's rising production of fresh flowers, fruits, and vegetables, an annual event will further strengthen the country's export potential, stimulate its economy, and foster continued growth in the horticultural sector's employment."
