Pomegranates and persimmons lead the way in Azerbaijan’s export growth

Azerbaijan’s fresh produce trade sees growth in Q1 2025

In the first three months of 2025, Azerbaijan increased its exports of fruits and vegetables by nearly 19% compared to the same period last year. According to the State Statistics Committee, a total of 132,289.3 tons were exported. The value of these exports also went up by 15.7%, reaching $153.37 million.

At the same time, the volume of imported fruits and vegetables slightly declined, down by 0.9%. Still, the cost of those imports rose by 7%, totaling $106.25 million for 140,527.96 tons.

Among the exported products, pomegranates showed a notable increase. Azerbaijan exported nearly 4,795 tons of pomegranates in the first quarter of the year, 41.9% more than in early 2024. The revenue from those exports reached $4.12 million, up 34.9% year-on-year.

Persimmons also performed well. The country exported 45,784 tons of persimmons, a 29.8% increase. These exports brought in $32.92 million, up 18.8% compared to last year.
